Bloodborne Pathogens
Our course on Bloodborne Pathogens (Standard Precautions) can give you the tools needed when you are helping save a life and blood is involved.
Bloodborne Pathogens are transmitted through contact with blood or other bodily fluids. These types of pathogens include viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Examples of bloodborne pathogens include HIV, Hepatitis B virus (HBV), Hepatitis C virus (HCV), and the human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I).
When in contact with a bloodborne pathogen there are standard precautions that should be taken. The following is an example of how to protect yourself from exposure to these types of diseases:
